Child Development Program
General Information
History: The program was reviewed at the meeting of the Higher Education Executive Board dated 01.10.2014 and it was deemed appropriate to open it in accordance with Article 7/d-2 of Law No. 2547, as amended by Law No. 2880. The Department of Child Care and Youth Services started to accept students in the 2018/2019 academic year. Our students' lessons are given practically in the kindergartens affiliated with Iğdır National Education Directorate, as well as in the classrooms of our School.
The aim of the Child Development program is to develop all developmental areas (mental, language, motor, self-care, social development) of normally developing children between the ages of 0-18, children with special education needs, children in need of protection (living in institutions, working children, refugees and criminals) and hospitalized children. To train Child Developers who provide services to the child, family, educator and society through supportive theoretical and practical training programs (emotional and emotional).
It provides information about which knowledge, skills, attitudes and behaviors regarding child development should be acquired by children and young people at what age level, supports all developments of the child (physical, psychomotor, mental, language, social and emotional), plans, implements, human relations and empathy. care, have knowledge about child health and diseases, and help the development and adaptation of children in need of special education; It is an area that performs drama, simple physical education movements, music studies, art and native language activities, and applies child recognition techniques.
Titles Earned by Graduates and Works They Do: Graduates of the Child Development program; They can work in nurseries and day care homes, kindergartens, child welfare institutions, hospital playrooms, hotel children's clubs, and private rehabilitation centers. Additionally, students who graduate from the program can become business owners by opening nurseries and kindergartens. Students who complete their education in a 4-year undergraduate program can work as child development specialists in hospitals affiliated with the Ministry of Health, private educational institutions, guidance research centers, Ministry of Family and Social Policies and Child Protection Institutions affiliated with the Ministry, love homes, child and youth centers. Graduates who receive pedagogical formation can be appointed as Child Development Teachers or Preschool Teachers when they get the required score in the KPSS exam, and they can teach in private institutions.

Double Major / Minor Programs
Double Major Program: Allows students to earn a bachelor's degree in a field they are interested in, in addition to their primary field. In this program, students can complete courses in two different fields and earn a diploma in both fields.
Minor Program: Allows students to take a certain number of courses in a field they are interested in, outside of their major. Students who complete the minor program are given an official certificate in that field; however, this does not mean a second undergraduate degree.

Exchange Programs
It offers students the opportunity to study at another university, either domestically or abroad, for a certain period of time. Thanks to these programs, students have the opportunity to learn about different cultures, develop their foreign language skills and gain international academic experience. The most common exchange programs include programs such as Erasmus+, Mevlana and Farabi.

Administrators, teachers and teacher assistants in private nurseries and kindergartens, administrators, teachers and teacher assistants in private education and rehabilitation centers, master instructor in kindergartens and primary schools affiliated to the Ministry of National Education, parent educator in private research and consultancy companies, They can work as a caregiver mother in Child Health Centers, Inpatient Treatment Institutions and Social Services and Child Protection Institutions, as a designer in the children's publications and toys sectors, and as a child care worker for the children of working parents.
Graduates can also gain the right to enroll in undergraduate programs through the vertical transfer exam if a quota is opened in their fields by taking advantage of the "Regulation on Transition to Undergraduate Programs for Vocational School Graduates and Open Education Associate Degree Graduates".
Graduates who have successfully completed their Associate Degree education can make a vertical transfer to the "Preschool Education Teaching" and "Child Development Education" undergraduate programs of universities, provided that they have sufficient scores from the Vertical Transfer Exam.
